Hi.
The new player works correctly with the beta.
The automatic refresh change still does not work on Xiaomi Mi Box S and Android 9.
When something is played with the automatic refresh change, the screen is left with the circle spinning, loading indefinitely.
Interestingly, if while in that state, you change from original quality to automatically adjust, and then change it back to original, the video starts playing with the automatic refresh working fine. But this should be done for each content that is played.
A greeting.
Hi,
Thank you for providing the packages.
This [PlexForAndroid-8.1.0.17362-1ddb3df9-Armv7aGooglePlayStdExo.apk ] worked for me on MiBox v. 9 (Kernel ver 4.9.113, Build P2604) after few tries to run different video files.
Ok I tried the package on my Fire TV and no change. Happy to provide logs if you can me where they are. Running PMS 1.19.3.2740.
@SteveFP, fetching logs is pretty easy, see this link:
Hi @sixones. Has this fix been built into the most recent beta version of the Android TV app? Not sure whether to install the latest beta as it suggested that it contained no TV facing changes but does have a higher version number than the one that you provided here.
Thanks for your work in providing this version here as it certainly fixed the DNS rebinding issue that my router did not give me the option to circumvent. Just hope that it doesnāt get lost and makes its way into the official beta soon.
We updated our HLS network loader to use the same SSL verification as direct play would use, the previous version was causing issues and failing to validate - this was happening with or without custom hostname on Plex Media Server. If a certificate is incorrectly configured (like how you mentioned) then we would still fail to play like we do now.
If PMS is using custom SSL then we will validate the certificate against the hostname and go through a full handshake.
Will pass your suggestion on for the settings, thanks!
Logs would be great, I will take a look. Steps on fetching the logs from a Fire TV is available here; https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/
Here are the logs from my Nvidia Shield 2017.Nvidia Shield 2017 Log.txt (153.3 KB)
Good afternoon,
I installed this apk on my Mi Box S with Android 9 and realized that with the new Enabled Player it now opens the video, however, it remains the same for me, the image is blurred. Plexās own web content works, only in my library does it happen. I have another box identical to android 8 and it works 100%, just like my Apple Tv and my Amazon Fire also works, only this Box that presents this shaky image behavior, with the Player New Enabled or not. Do you recommend anything you can see on my server? I ask this because the external contents of you run.
I managed to put it to work in 90% of the media. I found that always enabling the option to record the subtitle it works, whether or not the new player is enabled. Iām still having problems with media that the caption has already been embedded in the image, that is, in .mp4 with fixed captions.
Is it possible this is somehow a bitrate issue. I played around and can get most to play at 8 Mbps setting for home streaming. Anything bigger gets the error.
Happy to provide new logs if you see fit.
This was the issue for my firetv4k. Increased bandwidth limit in server settings and all was good again. Thanks! No changes to 264 or the new player or subtitle settingsā¦obviously not a solution if you cant just increase the limit.
Bingo! Thanks to CBassett for pointing me in the right direction but I am hoping someone can explain a few things BC the option labels make no sense.
First off under Remote Access I have bandwidth set at 200 Meg and Limit Remote Stream Bitrate to 8 Meg. When I changed the bitrate to maximum my local content that was experiencing the playback error are playing fine now. Based on how this option was labeled I would only expect it to limit bitrate to those being played over the Internet. Since I have the bandwidth set to 200 Meg am I impacting multiple simultaneous local playbacks, if the total bandwidth consumed is more than 200 meg?
Second under Plex Web - Quality there is a setting for Internet Streaming. Does this also impact local content playback?
404 for me
anyone can re-upload?
Just a quick bit of useful info and itāll possibly fix everyones issues!!
Turn off Secure connections in the PMS settings and the Player will play everything via WiFi on Local and Remote again!!
This issue has regressed for 3 updates now that I know to on the Plex server and it needs to be fixed!!

Sixones: Iām a newbie. I have a firestick (Fire OS 5.2.7.3 (652613720) ) running Plex version 8.0.0.17276 (cef199a0).
I remotely access content from a server in another location over high speed (100M typical WiFi speed).
I can play home videos from one of the remote servers but, as of a few days ago, cannot play movies or recorded television content from the same location, but a different server. (Home videos still work). Note that I do not have any issues on my iPad in accessing and viewing any content.
I see the icons of the content, choose play and get to the revolving circle. Occasionally get audio. Revolving circle stays on the screen. No video.
I have tried all the simple things (disabling new player; allowing insecure connections; disabling passthrough. No change.
I have deleted and reinstalled the app as well as rebooted.
Thanks Mark

This worked for me! Using Fire TV. Thanks fro the tip.
Tried to download APK to install, no longer there.
Please advise.
Definitely helpful. Definitely should not fix everyoneās issues. Some people (a lot of people) should not be willing or happy to disable secure connections.
