The same error message can represent multiple underlying causes. What client app version, and can you share some logs, please? That’s also a rather old server build now, so it may help to update if there are updates available
The Android app is version 8.2.1.18636. The plex media server is 1.19.4.2935-79e214ead. I sent that message in March of this year and never heard back from anyone on the forum. I have since updated both my client and server apps hoping the issue would be fixed to no avail. Do you still need the logs?
As 8.3 is now in beta with a number of player improvements, testing on 8.3 would be of much more use (whether in beta or when it’s released) than on 8.2.1 now
I just sent you the logs. The server updates come through WD, I go to the NAS and if there is an update available I update. 8.3 is not available.
8.3 is the client app version. As I said, it’s in beta at the moment, and it’s the logs from the app that are most useful, not the server (unless specifically requested).
You asked for logs, the only logs I know how to get are the ones that I sent. I don’t know how to get logs from the app. Please let me know how to get the logs that you would like to see.
Thanks
As I mentioned, logs from 8.3 are what we’re really looking for now, not experiences on 8.2.1
In any case, you can get the logs as I mentioned here An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app
I figured out how to get the android app to send the error logs to my server but the address given in the app is now working when I put it into my pc browser, do I get the app error logs through the browser login into plex like the server logs or at the direct url address given by the app?
I keep getting a connection has timed out error when I put in the address on my pc browser. I assume there is no other way to get the app logs?
I have restarted the app and server multiple times and the same error occurs.
The only way to get them is from the app, as instructed in the article I linked to
I followed the instructions, as stated, I get a server time out when trying to get to the log files that were supposed to be placed at that URL by my android app. Any idea as to why the address is not working?
Sounds like something internal to your network or your device. I’ve never had it not work
My internal systems are all up to date and do not have any issues, the app and server worked find and then stopped worked due to an update you guys made. I don’t see how this is my fault but your messages make it seem as though it is. There are tons of others having the same issue, is it possible that we try what had worked with others to fix this? This is similar to the Roku update that broke everything, can we just go back to a stable version?
You have to access the logs from the same network as your client, otherwise you won’t be able to connect.
I’m getting errors from my android phone app when on the ATT network. If I connect my phone to my wifi on the same network as the plex server, all works fine. I set up the android phone plex client app to send the logs to my network while on the ATT network so that I replicate the error. When I go to get the logs from my PC on the network, the browser times out, doesn’t find the logs. I’ve tried several browsers. Any help would be appreciated.
This is an Android TV and NVIDIA Shield thread, if you’re having a problem with the client on your phone you need to start a new thread in Android Mobile:
Back again. Fire TV (8.3) giving error playing a few things that my android phone will play. Logs attachedFirestick.txt (560.2 KB)
Do you have a sample video that doesn’t work?
They are large files, not sure how posting them would be possible.
