An Unexpected Error

Server Version#: 1.25.0.5246
Player Version#:
Tuner Make/Model: Hdhomerun Extend
Guide/Lineup name: ??
Using XMLTV?: No

Running pms in docker.

Having a similar issue as here: There was an unexpected error but even after spinning up a second plex instance and adding the DVR there, I was not able to get it working in my prime server. I have deleted the EPG files in /Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases that did nothing at all. The interface flashes briefly then provides the most useless of error messages ā€˜goto the forums’. It feels like the web equivalent of transferring my call.

Seems like a lot of people use the LiveTV during this time to view the Thanksgiving day Parade. If there is a standard process to fix this problem, maybe we can make it into a sticky.

Running into the exact same problem with a similar running environment and tuner equipment. (Version 1.25.0.5246)

Fixed my issue by spinning up a new docker plex server, connecting it to my plex account and then managing the server that is throwing the unexpected error, its Live TV/DVR settings from the new server. Came across this solution in a different thread from September. Was able to delete the existing Tuner/DVR setup and re-set it back up. Works fine now and the main server can manage the Tuner/DVR setting in its own UI. Very bazar solution but it worked.

I’m trying to get Live TV with my HDHOMERUN Prime To work on my Shield TV. All my other apps work, but when I select Live TV and DVR, it says, ā€œAn error has occurred, please try again later.ā€ I for the life of me can’t figure out why it’s doing this. I had it setup before this with an HDHOMERUN Extend with OTA channels, but now I am trying to get it working with my new Prime with Comcast. I appreciate any help.

Hey Malamaker,

If I understand you correctly, you spun up another plex server (I did this as a docker). gave it a name, signed in. In server settings I can select this or the original plex server. Are you saying you selected the ā€˜original’ server and can then manage the DVR settings?

If so, this did not work for me. I was able to create a dvr in the new server, can access it’s settings, but still ā€˜unexpected error’ on the original server

If you meant something else please let me know.

I tried a new Plex server in docker as well and the old server still throws the error after loading the page briefly as well as deleting the epg database files.

UPDATE: I tried again with the second docker Plex instance, I was going to try and add the DVR to the new instance and then copy the DB files over but after it failed I went to configure my original server and was able to delete my broken DVR setting.

Did you create a second (3rd) docker? or did the 2nd one just decide to allow you to select the original server?

I did create a 3rd and 4th docker instance, but I deleted the previous ones. I also didn’t share the config dirs, I just made a new standalone docker instance. I’m not sure what I did to make it work again tbh, I did try to add my DVR to the new instance but it kept throwing an error. I just happened to check my old instance to double-check and it didn’t throw the error and I was able to delete the existing DVR config and start over.

I ended up fixing this by editing the db file directly which is not anything I’d recommend for a normal user to do.
I removed the 3 rows in that Table and also remove the epg db files. This is the ONLY thing that worked for me.
I can’t recommend this and if you even attempt make sure you backup your DB so you can roll back.

I made a post that details a solution for this issue. Hope it helps. Solution: There was an unexpected error when going to settings page
