Analyze across whole library

Hello,

I’m having some troubles understanding how to Analyze a new library.

I’m currently re-configuring my home environment, and set up a new plex server. As part of this process, I provisioned a new server via docker with hardware transcoding - and this server worked well. I added my two libraries, waited for their scans to complete - and then ran a full analysis on the libraries which ran (over many hours… ).

I’ve since deleted this environment (it was a test…) and have now re-provisioned an exact replica.

In this new environment, the library scans have worked fine - and transcoding works, however - no matter how many times I try - plex refuses to analyze the libraries.

I’ve ensured that video preview thumbnails are turned on at the server and library level.

  1. I can analyze individual movies, and this works.
  2. TV shows refuse to analyze. I’ve tried from show -> season -> episode, none work.
  3. analyze at the library level does not work.
  4. leaving overnight for the schedules to run hasn’t changed anything.

I’ve tried rebuilding the database multiple times. I’ve tried optimizing the database, and cleaning bundles.

I’m wondering if there’s some data in the cloud informing the server (by name) to not analyze - or something.

For context, this is running in unraid, using the binhex-plex docker container.

Please help! I’d really like this to work.

Sounds more like your server is still processing some stuff and won’t start another analyze process until that other activities have finished. Personally I prefer letting Plex do this kind of stuff as part of the scheduled maintenance/tasks…

@tom80H I left it over night tho, and it didn’t do it then either…

Not sure Plex will run this during every maintenance. For most jobs the settings tell if it’ll run every week, every 3 days etc. – it’s not showing for analyzing a library.

Why wouldn’t it run it when you tell it to? Especially given if you select a specific movie - it’ll run the analyze, but if you select the entire movie library - it refuses to…
