I downloaded the app from the Googlw Play store, but for some reason it grabbed my work gmail account. Signed into app with my personal account. Shows up correctly. However when i click on activate, the Google Play popup only shows my work account and i cant switch it. If i click find a previously purchased … it pops up with an option letting me select which account. But if i go to purchase one time 4.99 it only shows my work account. Work account doesnt allow payments so i cant even just pay using that account.
I tried uninstalling and going to play store, makinf sure correct account was selected. Reinstalling app. Still same problem. I have 3 google accounrs and it automatically goes to my work one (not the primary on my phone) and will not let me switch it
From what I understand, Plex needs to rely on the Google features for that and doesn’t have much (if anything) they can influence.
Can you try uninstalling the app, and re-installing it after you’ve set the active account in the Play Store to be your personal account?
I tried that already (it was in my og post).
Is there a hidden cache file that i need to manuallu delete to reset that? I for sure two times uninstalled, made sure i had right account on play store and downloaded. Still the unchangeable account selected for payment popup is my work account which doesnt allow payments.
GD, i have uninstalled and reinstalled like 10-15 times in slightly different ways. No matter which of my 3 gmail accounts i use on the play store, or which of the 3 google accounts I use when signing in to the plex app, it ALWAYS pops up the payment box using my work gmail. It won’t let me change it. So annoying. Makes the app worthless. I can stream my movies for 1min at a time. Garbage app if it wont let me unlock it.
I cant even find an option to pay the one time $4.99 activation anywhere outside of the app to redeem in the app. The website only allows for payments to go premium. The app has a way to restore old activation purchase, but i can’t activate it anywhere else …
Googling for „Google Play in-App purchase multiple accounts“ makes it seem like this kind of problem has been around for years. Many pointing to temporary workarounds like the one I suggested (that didn’t work for you).
I’m not sure if Plex has any options as this seems to be a platform problem.
My current plan: borrow an android device, download plex, log into my acc, pay the 4.99, uninstall app from their device, try the restore feature on my phone. The restore feature lets you choose which account to use. Cant believe the payment button doesnt let you choose.
