Android kids user and plex account

Server Version#: N/A
Player Version#: Android mobile

I have a tablet which I share with my kids. There are 2 (android) users on it, one being a child’s account which has to be linked to a different google email address designated as a child account. I have bought the Plex app (not subscription) on Android and it works fine on my username. However, when switching over to the other user, since it’s a different gmail account (and therefore different play store account?) I’m unable to use Plex. I get the ‘Activate Plex’ request and it times out after 1 minute, prompting me to buy a plex pass or buy it in GPlay store.

I tried to ‘restore purchase’ but I get stuck in a login loop because I can’t add/login to the Google account I bought it under (the parent account) while signed into the kids account.

Any ideas how to activate Plex under the kids user?

Unfortunately, in-app purchases are not shared as part of Google’s “Family Library” feature. See Google’s own Use Google Play Family Library - Google Play Help article. To be clear, that’s a limitation on Google’s side and not something we have control over.

So if you need the activation for your kids account, you sadly have to buy the activation for that account as well.

As an alternative, you could also get a Plex Pass subscription, and add your kids account to your home
