I enabled network debugging but there’s nothing interesting in the logs. The app error occurs between the 2 GET requests below:
01-04 13:11:38.427 i: [HttpServer] /192.168.1.4:59125 - GET /logging
01-04 13:12:06.879 i: Resuming HomeActivityMobile.

I also watched adb logcat while reproducing the issue and I was not able to spot anything significant.
Anyone from Plex reading these forums? What is one to do when stuck like this? I’ve done all debugging I could. Happy to help Plex troubleshoot further.
Is the error restricted to the Android app?
i.e. can you access your profile using the web app https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/profile ?
Web works fine, my profile is not totally broken, though there might be some state there that the Android app doesn’t like.
Anything in particular which inspires this remark?
I can’t explain why my profile works in the web app but not the Android app. It doesn’t look like it’s a widespread problem as I don’t see others complain about it, so I assume there must be something about my profile.
The only thing that comes to mind is if you have emoji used in your profile.
Did you set your privacy options particularly restrictive?
No emojis in my profile, though I don’t know exactly what you mean/where.
Yes, everything is private and my PMS is accessible only on my LAN, no remote access (I do VPN if I need to get to it). But even if that’s the problem, the Android app should not require to compromise privacy just to use the app. And again, the web app works on the same LAN, same connection from the mobile browser on the same phone.
Just for kicks, I enabled remote access to my PMS (port forwarding and all), the web UI now shows in green:
Fully accessible outside your network
I also verified it’s accessible from my phone via the mobile connection (wifi off).
“My Profile” still does not work in the Android app. The issue is not remote access.
Hi, thanks for the report. Are you able to access your profile via the Discover source in the sidebar and then clicking the Profile tab? This is usually caused by a failed network request but you mentioned it works on web. Do you by chance have an Android TV or Fire TV device you could test?
I did some more testing, all on the same wifi network (same as PMS):
Pixel 6a phone (Android 14): Discover/Profile is broken (just like going to My Profile), Discover/People works
Fire TV dongle: Discover/Profile works, Discover/People works
Chromecast Google TV dongle: Discover/Profile works, Discover/People is broken (it just spins, no error message)
Web app: all Discover tabs work
Now, I don’t really care about Discover/People but it’s interesting to see that it’s broken on 1 of the devices and not on the same one where Discover/Profile is broken.
@plxstrm Just to double check, are you always using your @plxstrm account when checking these? They should not be accessible using a managed account but I want to make sure I’m checking the right things.
Have you tried force quitting the app and trying again?
I’ll also note that your PMS won’t have any effect on this. No need for it to be externally available or on the same network as your client device. ![]()
Yes, I only have 1 Plex account, 1 user, simple setup, nothing fancy. I tried killing the app, clearing the cache and it doesn’t help. Not sure whether it’s worth clearing the app data also/uninstalling and starting fresh, I kinda doubt it and I’d rather not go through configuring the settings again.
I’m happy to help with a debug build of the app or whatever help you need to troubleshoot this.
We are going to add some additional logging on our end to try to get to the bottom of this. Thanks for your patience.
Is the extra logging available?
For what it’s worth, I’m having the same issue. Can’t generate logs at this point in time but I can view my own profile from my home computer, but not on the android app.
FWIW, I gave my logs to the devs and they are looking into it.
they will release a fix for it.
