Android mobile app stopped working

Used to use my self-hosted plex-server from my Android phone on a daily basis, but suddenly I can’t get logged-in from it anymore.

Server: Ubuntu 20.04, PlexMediaServer-1.29.0.6244-819d3678c
Android Phone: /e/ 1.4 based on LinageOs with Android 11, latest security patches, Plex App 9.9.0.35519

When opening the app, the Plex logo flies in and that’s it. Nothing happens forever. And I’ve tried everything:

  • deleting cache and user data
  • uninstalling and re-installing the app
  • restarting the phone
  • checked all network settings, other devices in the same network can still access the local plex
  • tried access through a VPN
  • tried access through 4G

It’s always the same. One thing I noticed though: after rebooting the device and deleting all cache and user data from the app, it gets me to the login screen where I enter my email and password. But, when clicking the button to login, it seems to try working forever again, just like before. No progress even after many minutes.

What’s also strange: when I try to connect to my plex through a browser on the mobile phone, it doesn’t work either. It redirects to /web/index.html and tries loading that page without progress. You can notice from the progress bar at the bottom of the screenshot, that it connected to the server and loaded around 80% but then it doesn’t do anything else.

What could be causing this? I’m pretty sure, it must be something on that phone, because I most certainly excluded all connectivity issues. And it worked until a couple of days ago, where I updated the app and the OS - I was on Android 9 before.

Any chance for getting some help with this one, please?
