Android-app (Mobile/TV) IPv6

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that the Plex app on Android — both on mobile devices and Android TV — doesn’t seem to support IPv6 connections. Meanwhile, the iOS app works perfectly fine with IPv6.

Since more and more ISPs are moving toward IPv6-only networks or dual-stack configurations, it’s becoming increasingly important for apps like Plex to support IPv6 properly. Without it, users may run into connectivity issues, especially when remote access or streaming over modern networks is involved.

So my question is:

  • Why doesn’t the Android version of Plex currently support IPv6?

  • Is there any technical limitation or reason behind this?

  • And most importantly — could IPv6 support be added in a future update?

It would be great if Plex could offer the same network compatibility on Android as it already does on iOS.

Thanks!

Sadly Plex Support has not cared about IPV6 at all and All “New Experience” apps dont have it. iOS included. Apple TV still has the legacy app which does support it. Personally my home internet only gives a public ipv6 address so i setup my own relay system to a vps for family outside my house to use it.
