But the apk test is a new version of Plex?
Yup. 7.14
Got the same experimental APK from Plex today and worked like a charm. Still using the remote streaming settings, punched it up to maximum and voala: Full Res and seems to be quicker when jumping forward
Sooo relieved, thanx @sixones
I am sure everyone with this issue wants this fix to be part of the next update.
Keep it real
Oh I want this apk too
@badmark Please share the APK somewhere on dropbox or google drive, I’m so sick of their BS support and waiting around.
If your struggling with this issue, you can find the APK’s below. If your on the Miibox you want the Armv7a version. The fix will be available in the beta next week, should be released on Monday.
Jup this one worked for me
Hey, thanks for the share!
Edit: test with Armv7 on Xiaomi Bos S, that work fine now! Thanks for the fix!
Installed the fixed version and it seems like this issue is gone. Thanks a lot!
Thank you this also fixed the issue with my Mi Box S!
And it fixed my X96 Max Box as well… Weird problem…
I think this happens with most tv box
Not quite. It does not affect my 2 Mini M8 IIs boxes, just my X96 box.
Excellent to see Plex have resolved this with 7.14. I installed a Mi Box S to our bedroom TV with a Simplecom usb to ethernet adapter and yep, transcodes to poor quality at every play. So happy to see an apk has been provided. Thanks kindly Plex
The beta links above seem to 404. I can certainly wait until Monday but if the fix doesn’t appear in the official client I would love to test this beta.
Do you guys really think it was use of the contact form tagged with “legal” that set this fix into motion? According to a post on the AndroidTV subreddit, a user had contacted sixones about this bug, sent logs, etc, as far back as the end of last year. Considering how long it’s taken to get a workable solution for basic functionality, I’m just wondering for the future how best to get the wheel turning on a fix.
Sorry the links have expired now, the fix will be in the beta that comes on Monday though.
The issue got lost in the cracks I think, I’m not aware of being sent any logs for this issue but I’m likely to be wrong. The internal issue got passed to me, I had a look and saw the issue was that we had the limit cellular preference enabled on TV devices with no way to disable it.
The actual bug is on the device though, a USB to ethernet adapter should be providing a local ethernet connection type rather than indicating it’s a cellular connection which I think is why we’ve not fixed it sooner.
Hello, can someone reupload the fixed .apk ?
Plex is still a pain to use on the MiBox S sadly
Here you go @olivierlcy.
This will expire on Monday when the beta is published, if your not on the beta you can signup and will be processed into the beta when the beta is published.
@sixones Where can I subscribe for beta? Can you post the link?
