Hello,
I have a PMS hosted behind Cloudflare, since some recent updates I can’t play transcoded stream (direct play works) on Android devices (Mobile/TV), I attached you Android logs.
There is no issues on Plex Web/iOS/Plex for Windows and direct play works well on Android app.It looks like a specific issue on Android app >= 7.31.0 on transcoded content.
I blocked Plex Direct and Plex Relay, I only allow Plex apps to use my domain name (and it works).
That might be the issue. There are a lot of reports that recent android updates “broke” functionality, where the root cause was often dns rebind protection. Try unblocking it just for test purposes.
@Maxou44 and @Coxeroni I to are having this issue, WiFi certain files won’t play, but over 4G/Cell they work great, is it a rebinding issue or a transcoder issue??? I feel it’s the latter and it’s been broken in a few versions now, it really needs fixing.
I’ve got 32400 open etc, and no joy over WiFi… need a fix and I feel Bob The Builder has caused a regression!!
The bug is a bit complicated to see, it only happend when you try to transcode a file, it’s possible some file works because of codec, bitrate and app configuration. It’s a android app issue, not a backend/pms issue
Just out of curiosity, I’ve disabled secure connection in the PMS network settings and everything now works on my Android Tablet via WiFi and my friends tablet via remote on his WiFi but phones still have issues playing comes over WiFi on Android 10…
If anyone else can confirm this and let @ChuckPa and @sixones know that this is a definite bug on secure and with the player…
Please Plex team ! It’s a bug on you side, some SSL certificates are supported by the app (library, images, etc.) but not by your bundled FFmpeg! Can you fix it soon? It’s a major bug!
This is my logs with build 8.1.0.17650 (1ae07b06) android.log (38.8 KB)
As I said earlier the server is hosted behind a Cloudflare proxy and the 32400 port is closed. The custom domain name is correctly set and work well for web and various apps. The iOS app works well and don’t have any issue.
If I try to get the .m3u8 file from a web browser, I receive the playlist file. The bug appears only on transcoded content with build >= 7.31.0
I can share you a media library with a file if you want to try it directly on my server setup
Looking at your logs, it seems you have the hostname set to customdomain.com which seems like a mistake? Can you send me a screenshot of your Plex Media Server settings with Advanced enabled and on the Network tab (feel free to DM me).
