Android Mobile/Android Plex App Issue - Plex App Doesn't Fully Close & Audio Plays in Background

As the title reads, my issue is that despite fully closing the app via Android on my S25 Ultra, the audio continues to play in the background. Usually, the app will not show when hitting the app virtual “button” at the bottom left of my phone, although sometimes the app still pops up as if it was never closed in the first place. This has been happening for about a week now, if not longer.

I am running Android version 16 with One UI version 8.

The only current fix I have found it tedious and annoying, which is to long press on the Plex app icon, force quit the app, and then clear the cache.

New app is horrible. Functionality broken. Pip for example, when you pause and restart the pause overlay remains on screen or chapter selection is there.

Skipping is gone.

I couldn’t agree more. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I remember having to download individual seasons for TV shows, and when accessed offline, They aren’t even separated by season or show. They are all just under one large list.

It’s unfortunate because in the past on these forums, I would receive a response within the day from a ninja or better. I guess things have changed here?

Plex has fallen so hard. With that being said, I still use it for streaming local channels and now that’s become so annoying, I’m working to circumvent using Plex at all.

The latest Plex app for Android is like the original poster stated, close the app all you want but sound continues to play and Plex constantly showing in the phones notifications under live audio. Having an app out that REQUIRES force shutdown is such a rookie move from a company / developer stand point. Just in case someone from Plex accidentally clicks on the forums, here’s my specs.

I entirely agree. It’s truly sad to see.

I also have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, as well as force quite the app along with clearing the cache more times than I can count. Nothing changes.
