Android players (Android TV, Android Phone, ...) using Exoplayer 2 can only play (approx) 3 minutes of Live tv

I have gone all-in on Plex in my home. Everything works OK, except wathcing Live DVR:
All clients, using the so-called “new player” (Exoplayer 2), which is now forced upon us, get the dredded “An error occurred …” dialog box after playing Live TV for approx 3 minutes.

OBS 1: The error comes after approx 3 minutes of playing Live TV no matter type of client as long as it is an Android Client (i.e. using Exoplayer 2).
OBS 2: Playing recorded content on the same Android clients works perfectly
OBS 3: Plex clients on Microsoft Windows 10 can play Live DVR without any issues for hours

This seems to be a bug introduced recently. I used to be able to play Live TV on my Android devices, but recently this has not been possible.

I have attached three logs:

  • Server tuner log (PMS on Windows 10).

My Android Plex clients are running on:

  • Google TV
  • Android TV (Mibox S)
  • Android TV (Nvidia Shield TV)
  • Android TV (Nvidia Shield TV Pro)
  • Android (OnePlus 8 Pro)

On all these platforms I experience a (approx) 3 minutes limit on watching Live DVR. After 3 minutes the connection to server is dropped, and I see a “An error occurred …” dialogbox.

On my Microsoft Windows clients (Plex App) everything is OK.

Update to PMS 1.24.5.5173
Android is working, but Windows PlexWeb still not stable.

Is it this fix in 1.244.5.5173 you are reffering to:
(Playback) Some requests were failing causing Live TV streams on Android to get interrupted.

Yes, if you are on 1.24.5.5160 update to new 1.24.5.5173 from today.
If you are on earlyer Version, better stay there. :wink:

Just upgraded (from 5160 to 5173), and made a quick Live DVR check on my Android phone:
IT WORKS!!! (played for 6 minutes).
I will test more later today …
