Android Plex App works in mobile mode but not in TV mode

Installed Plex in mobile mode on an android TV box after a fresh OS wipe to turn off the AC3 acceleration that causes crashes among some AmLogic processors - another bug, not this one - and when switched to TV mode playing seemingly any media now causes random crashes in the app.

Only thing changed in settings: AC3/EAC3 acceleration set to OFF.

Reinstalled in mobile mode, and no crashes for any media.

Uninstalled and reinstalled with no settings selected. Keeps crashing in TV mode no matter what settings are selected now. Mobile works fine.

This app has been a nightmare to use on AmLogic TV boxes for awhile, but I can no longer use the app at all except in mobile mode.

I have an Android TV box as well and I’m having the same problem, the app won’t switch to TV mode and if I try to leave it in mobile it crashes.

I have the same problem. I have Plex on an Android box, the MINIX NEO U22-XJ, and it is now unusable because when I choose TV mode, it switches to TV mode but each press of a button will bring up a dialog box asking to remain in mobile mode or switch to TV mode. If I choose to remain on mobile mode whilst already on TV mode, it stays in TV mode but it’s in a loop where each button I press brings up the dialog box. If I use an air mouse to directly choose a movie or TV shows, the dialog box doesn’t appear and is able to play Movies and so are TV shows if I choose to play directly but if I browse by choosing a season and an episode, then it crashes Plex. I cannot also choose the Setting option no matter what, Plex crashes.

I ended up uninstalling the latest version and installed a version from 2021 and it is now working again.

Could you please tell me the vesion number from 2021? I have the same issue.

No idea, it would have been current with the date at the time as it autoinstalled.
