Android Plex client how do you download a specific version?

Server Version#: 1.30.0.6406 (Ubuntu 20.04)
Player Version#: 9.11.1.36576

On the server I have a 4K original plus 2 optimized versions (the screenshot is from the web interface, not from the Android client):

I’m trying to download/sync a version (preferrably the smaller one), in the Android Plex client but it does not work, it results in a yellow triangle error right away. Other movies that do not have optimized versions on the server will start transcoding and they download. Is it not possible to just sync an optimized version for offline playback?

I don’t see anything in the PMS log, is there a way to look at errors on the client side and see what that yellow triangle is about?

Maybe this is the error:

There isn’t an easy way to pick the version to download. You can get the app to pick a version by setting the download quality to match the version. In your example using original will download the larger 4k version. Using 20 Mbps will select the smaller 4k version. Using >6.2 to <18.6 will pick the 1080 version.

But I can’t download any version at all. How do I troubleshoot this? My current workaround is to download a version via Chrome and play it with Kodi or VLC.

Download something and after it fails, grab the Android logs and post them here.

How can I share the logs with you in a private way?

Also, others are hitting the same issue it seems and I see the same errors in my logs. A Plex bug perhaps?

I have verified it is a problem with having multiple versions. In my case I have the original + 2 optimized versions. If I move 2 versions out of the way, I can download the single remaining one, but if I add another version the download fails.

Hi, I’m getting this error too. Works if I have a single version of a Movie, it’ll either download it or transcode to lower quality based on the client (I have Tablets set to 720p 4Mb). Soon as I pick a Movie with an optimised version (matching tablet quality) it fails to download with the permissions error.
