I have plex media server - windows on a pc in the house. I access the content via Plex app on samsung android smartphone and tablet, casting PMS content via chromecast connected to my denon amp over the house wifi network. Works fine…except it won’t turn off. I can literally shut the phone or tablet off but it still keeps playing. Of course I can physically turn off the amp but that isn’t a solution. If I want to switch from PMS content in the plex app to tidal, I can’t because the PMS content won’t stop playing. Any advice is appreciated, thanx.
That is a feature of the chromecast API as Google made it, so if you are watching something and the device casting loses connection for whatever reason then will keep playing. Youtube will do the same thing. The stream is not coming from or through your phone, the phone is only acting as a remote for the stream going from your server directly to the chromecast.
If your phone/tablet is still connected and you see the player click the X on top right to stop playback or click the casting icon to disconnect and it will ask if you want to continue playback on phone/tablet. ( either answer will cause it to stop on chromecast)
if is it not connected then you can reconnect by clicking the cast icon and connect back to it then stop it. Pretty sure you can use the Google Home app as well
