Android Remote not recognising RasPlex as a player

I've trawled through forum so far and the last post I can find relating to this was in July 2013, if this has been answered elsewhere please point me in the right direction and I'll get rid of this post.

I updated my PlexServer and Plexapp (Android) a few weeks ago and immediately lost the ability to control RasPlex with the app, I didn't have any time to look into it at that point but spent some time fiddling over the weekend.

The PlexServer is recognising RasPlex as a player, and I can use RasPlex with a keyboard fine - it finds and plays all my media without issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, checking the network connections etc. but the Android app won't find RasPlex (ethernet) but will find a PC (wifi).

The post from last July mentioned something about 'a simple SSH' - to be honest, I don't really know what that means so if anyone could advise I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

A

RasPlex needs to be updated to support the new remote control protocols.

RasPlex needs to be updated to support the new remote control protocols.

I checked yesterday and am running the latest version of RasPlex - is this a widespread thing that will be fixed in later releases or should I reinstall the latest version of RasPlex completely?

Thanks for your response

You'd need to check with the RasPlex guys, but my understanding is there is not yet a released version of it which support the new protocols.

Is there any news from the Rasplex team on this yet? I took out a lifetime subscription, I’m waiting for this since I got my Pi.

Hello,

I have created a remote that you can use on your smartphone to control RasPlex here.

Enjoy!

Hey guys, should be fixed in 9.9.17, using the plex android app (plexpass may be required for full features)
