Stand-alone RasPlex Remote

Hey Everyone.

I recently got a PlexPass and have set up a RasPlex in a second house, which I signed into with my account. It's running fine, however I am not sure how I can get a remote control via Android to connect, as there isn't a server on the local network.

Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks!

Have you tried just using the plex android app?

Have you tried just using the plex android app?

Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't pick up any players on the local network either.

Could this be something to do with running an older version of Rasplex? I hadn't updated it when I tried.

I'd try the latest rasplex (9.9.17) and the latest android app.

I think that sometimes a local server is helpful for the app to find the player, but realistically it shouldn't be needed (i don't think...), since gdm should take care of it.

Thanks a lot. I'll give it another try when I head back to the house after it has updated.

I guess worst-case I could get a bluetooth keyboard/dongle for it.

My ouya bluetooth controller worked OOB.

Another option is, if you have *any* computer on the LAN that can run a plex server just to have GDM running, that's worked for me in the past.

This may be an obvious and unhelpful question, but are you signed in to myPlex on the android as well as RasPlex?
