Hello, this is a first time for me on these forums so if more info is needed, please let me know.
The issue I’ve been running into on both my Note9 and my 2 Shield Tv Pros is this: Unless I set Subtitle Burn to “Always”, subs that would show up in two lines don’t display properly. The first line appears, then is instantly replaced by the second line.
If I set the subtitles burn to “always”, instead the 2 line subtitles appear out of order. They display like this:

This doesn’t happen with all shows.
Is it an ASS subtitle? those tend to have a few glitches here and there, when they are burnt in the subs with two lines (usually dual language) would have wrong timing. but I heard it’s fixed in the latest version.
Try direct play them instead of burning in.
Hey thanks for the response. As far as I’m seeing there doesn’t appear to be a separate subtitle file.
I do have Direct Play enabled as far as I can tell. It’s enabled on the server, and I’m not seeing any specific settings mentioning it in the Shield Tv settings, so I’ve got everything set to max.
okay so learned a little bit more - Plex is displaying “Subtitle English Forced (SRT)” - so I don’t think it’s an ASS sub
