Hi guys, latest version on plex server and plex android player. Using for about one year without success, every other person gets thumbnails except me. tried everything, from formatting phone to all the usual stuff. How can i proceed?
You mean everybody using your server? This is done by your server.
yes. everyone else has thumbnails. i dont. tried different phones, different ROMs. nothing seems to work. I only get them if im connected to the same network as the server. if im over mobile network i dont get them
Hmm. It shouldn’t matter if you are on a mobile network. Can you find a movie that has the thumbnails for another user, then play it back in the app. Drag the timeline around to check for the thumbnail, then send me that log.

I’m not seeing the calls to get the image. Can you provide a screenshot of the media info page for that video? The one you see when you click on “Get info”.
on the phone? i dont see that option
From Plex Web. Hover the mouse over the poster and you’ll see “…” in the bottom right cover. Click on that, then from the menu that shows up, select “Get Info”. I would like an image of the page that comes up.
According to that, the file hasn’t had the thumbnails generated. I’m not sure how other users are seeing them.

There isn’t an easy way to do it for 1 movie. These are done for an entire library. We have a guide at https://support.plex.tv/articles/202197528-video-preview-thumbnails/.
the guide is interesting but im not interested in having video preview thumbnails, just normal poster thumbnails for the android app
Oh sorry. Thought you were referring to the preview thumbnails. You just mean you don’t see the posters in the Android app. That’s something different.

That was from 2018. I doubt it’s the same issue.
Looking back at your Android logs, it shows that the app is having trouble connecting to your server. So it’s using some old cached information to show the layout, but it’s not able to grab the actual poster art from your server.
Can you reproduce the problem, then get me a new log as well as the log from your server? I’d like to see if the server is logging any of these failures.

Your Android logs don’t look like a fresh install. It is showing that it is reusing information. How did you uninstall the app? Maybe try again but wait 5 minutes before reinstalling. Something with your app isn’t working properly.
