Just got the new experience on Android TV Beta. Overall choppy performance moving around the screens.
Playing any media, TV or Movie, the player controls are not accessible. Can’t scrub through a video, fast forward, rewind, anything. Can only pause and play. This is on NVIDIA Shield client.
I had to opt out of beta and reinstall old app to get it working again.
Dame thing happened to me. They haven’t even done a preview experience of the app on android tv. Nor have they announced that they’re pushing it through the beta route. The cluster ■■■■ of a rollout continues.
This was a mistake and a fix was just released. You should be able to opt into the beta again and get the old app.
For anyone who has the beta Android TV app installed and was updated to the new experience, you will need to uninstall the app and reinstall it to roll back to the old app.
Just FYI, I’m sure you guys know this, but with that new beta on android TV i lost my surround sound. There was no option to manually choose what audio format your devices support. I was able to roll back to the previous version after exiting the beta.
I forgot I was even enrolled in the beta on our Bravia Android TV. Very unpleasant experience loading up the new experience app this morning - slow to load, seems not to respond for up to 15 seconds at a time, more difficult to switch users, etc. But most importantly, no music libraries? Are we expecting that Plexamp will be released for Android TV at some point?
Anyway, removed myself from the beta and reinstalled the regular Android TV app. Hope we get to keep this as a legacy app for as long as possible.
