Android TV Box

I have a TT TV Box that on upstairs and finally got the Amazon Plex app installed in it Now, it shows up on my desktop but my Plex app cannot see the desktop, keeps throwing me back into Plex sign-in page. And, thanks for the heads up that is me trying to set up this rig on a mini keyboard. Ideas?

I am signed into Plex on my desktop. I have downloaded the Amazon app onto my Android Box. Every time I try to use it to watch something on the attached hard drive, I have to sign in email and password then I’m told “not valid” or similar. Do I have to sign out of the desktop before using the android box? Why isn’t there an option to stay signed in on the andorid box and Amazon Plex?

What is a “TT TV Box”?

Does it support the Google Play Store?

Did you sideload the Amazon app?

If so, which app - Amazon AppStore (armv7a) or Amazon Fire OS Devices (armv7a) - and what version?

PMS version?

User manual shows a TT TVBOX my Amazon rct reads:
[Android 9.0 TV Box 4GB RAM 64GB ROM, NinkBox N1 Max TV Box Android RK3318 Quad-Core 64bit Dual-WiFi 2.4GHz/5GHz, 3D Ultra HD 4K H.265 USB 3.0 BT 4.0 Smart TV Box ]

The support, however, goes ninkbox.
I don’t see my rct for the app but it wouldn’t install the first time. I seem to recall its number 2 as I would assume that is a newer app.

Thanks for the information.

Based on the second picture in the Amazon listing, it seems the NinkBox supports the Google Play Store (you can see “Google play” at the bottom of the picture).

Suggest you delete the Amazon version and load the Plex app from the Google Play store.

Why?

First, if you loaded that Amazon Fire OS Devices app, that is the wrong one. It is meant only for Amazon branded devices. Amazon devices run a custom version of Android. The app may not behave correctly on non-Amazon devices.

Second, the Amazon Store update process takes longer than the Google Play Store update process. As a result, the Plex app in the Amazon store is regularly several versions behind the Plex app in the Google Play store. They might be close right now, but that is because the Amazon Store version was just updated.

Try loading the Plex app from the Google Play store (directly from the store, don’t sideload), and report back how it behaves.

The reason I went with the Amazon app was to take advantage of my Amazon Prime which allows me a fair amount of video view at no extra expense. As I recall I had the Google version installed and Amazon offered their version to open the Prime for me.

The Plex app has nothing to do with Amazon Prime Video.

Use the Prime Video app, also available in the Google Play store, to watch content available via Amazon Prime Video service.

I have deleted the amazon plex app and installed the app off google play as suggested. I find now that I have not recorded the proper password. Need a reset without the old passoword option pease.

Edit: If you use Chrome and saved your Plex password, you can view it in Chrome settings (Settings → Autofill → Passwords). I do not know if Firefox or Edge has the same capability.

I use Dashlane for most and the password I have saved out will not work in Plex change password. I tricked to this when the sign in on the new plex app was void 2 times.

When you login to the Android TV app it should tell you to go to plex.tv/link and enter the code on the screen. That uses the same username/password you use to post on the forum. If you are already logged in here, it might show you as logged in on plex.tv/link.

If I open a new tab in Chrome and go to plex.tv/link, at the bottom it says, “You are signed in as FordGuy61.” I don’t have to login again. It recognizes my login from the current tab (where I’m typing this message).

If that doesn’t work, and the Reset Password link doesn’t work, I know of two options:

  1. Open a new thread on the forum with the subject “Password Reset,” “Lost Password,” or similar. Mention you tried the reset password link and it did not work. One of the ninjas or employees might be able to help.

  2. Contact the Plex billing team, https://www.plex.tv/contact/?option=plex-pass-billing. They might be able to help.

As a workaround, you could create a second Plex account using a different e-mail address. Login to your Plex Server with your primary account, then share all your libraries with the second account. Then use the second account to login to the Plex app. It is the same process you would use to share libraries with a friend, you’re just sharing with yourself.

Finally got the NinkBox signed in and have downloaded app from google play store as you suggesed. The NinkBox is working fine but, it does not show contents on my desktop for some reason On the “more” screen it shows the “downstairs” as being in trouble Don’t know what to fix. Sorry to be such a bother.
