Android TV Can No Longer Play Music

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#: 10.6.0.5141 (3aaa3109).
Server Synology DS1621+ OS: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 3

I am having an issue playing any music (mp3) on Android TV (TCL).
They same music and lists play with no issues on Samsung TV and Android Mobile App.

Symptoms:
Launches the song and then the background is greyed out and the play controls are in the foreground. The music will play for about 5 - 7 seconds then the plex app will crash and then restart.
This is the same for albums and playlists. Tried installing plex on a windows pc and playing music, it produced the same issue and symptoms.

However TV and movies play with no issues.

UPDATE: Upgraded server to version 1.40.0.7775 with no improvement or changes.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You

FWIW I’m having this same issue on my TCL Android TV currently. While the music is playing the progress bar doesn’t move and I can’t control anything on the app.

Same thing is happening to me. Any MP3 will cause Plex to crash and reload. This is on a TCL Android TV that’s about 2 months old.

How do we get Plex’s attention to fix this issue??

Have the same problem, error while playing this item, FLAC, ALAC, 16bit 24bit 41khz 96khz, doesnt matter what audio format, been happening now for ages, getting ridiculous now at this stage.
Updated to the newest beta release and the issue still remains! >:(

Maybe @elan can assist? To work around the issues, we have had with the Android TV client lately, I have installed Emby and using Plex as a PVR recording only now.

I installed Jellyfin just to test and verify the audio problem, had no issues playing back through android tv.

VLC using Plex DNLA server also has no issues playing back audio.
Frustrating this is… any Plex devs looking into this issue?!

I’m new to Plex and I have the exact same error : songs playing for ~7 sec and the app crashes. Tried with mp3, ALAC, differents bitrates and it crashes every time. I have a TCL Android TV too and it seems link to TCL models. In the logs, it mentions “TCLQuirkBehaviour” :

and it goes on for seconds until crash and reboot.

Latest beta release has not addressed this issue.
Once an album has finished playing, error while playing this item rears its ugly head…

Same here. Plex has been getting progressively more buggy. Might have to find a new media player. Works for video but audio files restart.

I have since moved to Emby, for both video and audio. Just use Plex for ad skipping in recording now. Move was easy, for any tips DM me.

This should be fixed in the latest beta 10.7.0.5359.

Unfortunately it hasn’t, the error is still occurring…

Are you sure you have the same issue? The issue in this thread is the app would crash? I had the same issue on my TCL and it is no longer happening to me. How are you able to reproduce the crash?

Its a Sony TV am having trouble with, i first clear the cache from the Plex app, start playing an album, it could get part way through, stop with error occurred while playing this item, the app does not crash but i do need to force stop before it will play any music again.

Ok, then that is different to the issue that was brought up in this thread. Can you provide your Android Logs after you get the error?

Apologies for the very late reply, i will get them uploaded soon.

See anything wrong in the logs Morganj?
