Please for the love of all that is holy, PLEASE fix the music playback bug that’s been present in the Plex Android TV client for YEARS. This is on my Nvidia Shield TV device running the latest software. With each new update, I hope against hope that this playback bug is fixed, but it never is…

To reproduce:

  • Go into your music library, simply hit shuffle
  • Allow the first song to play for a few seconds
  • Navigate down into the auto-generated music playlist
  • Choose a different song
  • 9 times out of 10, the song you choose will be skipped and the Plex app will begin playing the song AFTER the one you selected.

I have a video demonstrating this behavior. It’s infuriating and as I said, it’s been present in this app for years and years.

There must be something interfering, or a weird setting, or something. I don’t often follow those exact steps, but this has never happened when I did. I just did it half a dozen times without a problem.

Maybe the app log files from the Shield would help.
