I really want to use plex on my Shield TV to play music but it’s just not possible in the current state. The main problem is that Plex skips some songs some of the times.
What happens is that when I choose a song it will be shown in a split second before it jumps to the next one. If I choose the very same song again it *might *work. Or it might not. If I keep choosing the same song over and over again it will eventually work…
The same thing happens when I play an entire album or playlist. If I press play on an entire album the first couple of songs might play fine but eventually it will skip a song.
This can happen to a single song at the time or several songs that are directly after each other. Meaning that if I want to play song 1 it might skip both song 1, 2 and 3 until it starts playing song 4. Most of the time it “only” skips one or two songs though.
It’s as if Plex spends a split second searching for the song but then gives up immediately if it can’t find it.
On the same Shield I also have Kodi which is hooked up to my plex server via a plugin and Kodi has no problem playing the files. cough Nor has it any problem playing 5.1 surround musiccough I can also play songs on other devices without any problem using either Plex or Plexamp.
The problem started some time ago, hard to tell exactly since I used to play through airplay. But at least a few months. I have tried resetting Plex on my Shield. I think it might play a little bit better after the reset but it’s faaar from good.

I don’t know if that log is the correct one, please let me know if not. I selected several songs in the last minute or two and several (but not all) of them skipped so I hope the log shows something.
Music on Android Plex is also broken for me.App crashes and a lot of issues with skipped tracks.Tracks stopping and so on.Nothing helps to solve it.Plexamp works perfectly fine.I have now removed music on the Shield and use Plexamp with Chromecast.I gave up after days of testing.
I get that same issue. Also when I jump around from albums to artist a few times, the track selection gets completely broken. I have to chose the track before the one I want or just get the one Plex chooses then skip back. after a few plays, the app just crashes and I can start again.
I can crash it in 30 sec with some clicks.I tried five differnt Android Devices (TV and Phone)and not one is stable.So Android seems to be the issue.On the server side i tried Windows,Linux,Docker.Same issue.
Plex appears to be very unstable on streaming sticks right now. I’ve been using it for years and the last few weeks/months have been worse than ever. Tracks randomly try to start “after their end” causing errors. Tracks not found. Something is really messed up and it’s something newish.
