Android update broke many features (shield and fire tv)

I have a shield tv running shield android version 9.1.1 and the plex android app has completely changed from all my other devices.

First, the Home tab does not update on its own anymore and the only fix I’ve found is to select another tab to the left then reselect the home tab.

Second, none of my shows or movies show the orange tab in the top right of the poster showing it hasn’t been watched. It seems to have been replaced with a green check mark that shows it’s been watched instead.

Finally, I can no longer just hit the play button on any items on the Home Screen and have that item start playing. I am now forced to long press select to get a drop down menu then select play.

Only my android devices exhibit this behavior and it works exactly as it used to on my Apple TV. Please update the app to bring back at the very least the auto updating Home Screen. That by far is the most frustrating. Thank you.

True on all counts… 2nd issue is a deliberate change by Plex.

I figured that was most likely a design change. I had grown accustomed to it but I’m sure I’ll get used to the new design once they fix the other issues. Thanks for the info.

The “Home” tab problem is very strange. On Shield, if you click around to actor pages and then click on the “back” button the remote, the actor movies appear underneath the movies on the home tab. You can get 3 or 4 layers of movies and TV shows stacked on top of each other. The “back” button navigation behavior never worked quite right on Shield, but this behavior is completely new.
