Anime "Elfen Lied" is not getting correct Episodes

Hi Plex-Community,

here my problem:

i had an old version of the anime “Elfen Lied” where i had 1 videofile which contained all episodes (cheap youtube ripoff). So i managed to get the correct BluRay quality with all episodes and subtitles etc. and replaced the one file with folders for each episode with subs. Now, Plex immediatly saw the change and refreshed the Anime page. But instead of having the correct layout of showing Season 1 with all 13 Episodes, it shows me Season 1 with 1 Episode (episode 3) with 13 “identical” Files.

I tried to delete the folder, scanned again, readded the files and rescan agian, but the problem persists and i cant get it to show up properly.

Do you have any Idea?

Thank you in advance!

Greetings Towerplease

Here a screenshot of the wrong layout:

Are you following the media naming rules? It looks like not, renaming the files may help. https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/media-preparation/naming-and-organizing-tv-shows/

Thank you for the fast answer.

Since its anime, its under TV-Shows and the current naming is like this:

/Anime
   /Elfen Lied
      /Staffel 01 (Means Season 01)
/Elfen.Lied.E01.[Name of the episode].2014.[Some more info like 1080p]
/Here lies down the Episode-file and nfo file
             /Subs
                /Some Subfiles for this episode
/Elfen.Lied.E02.[Name of the episode].2014.[Some more info like 1080p]
/Here lies down the Episode-file and nfo file
             /Subs
                /Some Subfiles for this episode
/Elfen.Lied.E03.[Name of the episode].2014.[Some more info like 1080p]
/Here lies down the Episode-file and nfo file
             /Subs
                /Some Subfiles for this episode
and so on...

This is the correct way or? It works in scheme for all other TV-Shows and Animes.
I have the feeling that Plex “saved” the 1 Episode from before, what was everything in 1, and now thinks that its still in that “scheme” or something.

Thanks a lot!

Make it:

/Anime
    /Elfen Lied
/Season 01 (**Must be english, AFAIK**)
Here the episode **MUST** Be - **S01E01**.mkv

Note that there’s no separate folder for each episode, and each episode must have - S01E01- or siml. in the filename

So, i changed everything exactly how you said, but still the problem persists. Plex shows “Elfen Lied”, 1 Season, just Episode 3 with 13 Files…

Please share a screendump of the files, starting with Anime and all the way down to the episodes

There you go:

And you forgot to rename your media files!

Like:

3MiNa-Elfen.lied-E12_bluray1080p.mkv

Should be named:

3MiNa-Elfen.lied-S01E12_bluray1080p.mkv

as a bare minimum

Best though, would be:

Elfen Lied -S01E12- 3MiNa.bluray1080p.mkv

You need SxxEyy in the filename

which brings us back to the original replies…
it’s not just naming the seasons folder right but to actually follow Plex’ naming conventions!

Example:

/Anime
.. /Elfen Lied
.. .. /Season 01
.. .. .. /Elfen Lied - s01e01.mkv
.. .. .. /Elfen Lied - s01e02.mkv
`… … … / …

Put any additional information (e.g. the bluray 1080p or “2014”) in square brackets ([...]). Episode names are purely optional in the file names.

Plex cannot guess what show / episode each file is referring to.

Shame on me!

You are right, its working now. Thank you very much!

The SXXEYY fixed it. I actually thought it was correct, but i guess i need new glasses (Kappa).

Thank you again, Plex is love, Plex is life!
