Extinction: The Facts
Wont show up on my plex server
The title is Exactly the below:
Extinction The Facts
Tried also Extinction The Facts (2020)
The video file is in a folder and the folder is named above
Anyone get any luck getting this metadata?

Are you trying to add it to a movie or tv-show library?
The documentation is properly listed on all relevant repositories – so it should match fine. The fact that you say it’s not being added at all implies you might have named it like a movie when trying to add it to a tv-show type library or vice versa.
I’ve added the video to a test movie-type library of mine using the new movie scanner/agent and it was recognized immediately. Files are named like this:
Movie Playground <- the folder linked to my test library
Extinction The Facts (2020)
Extinction The Facts (2020).ext
where .ext is my file’s extension; if you’re using mp4/m4v/mov files, make sure there’s no conflicting embedded metadata title
I just tried to look at the page on TVDB and there are some major issues which I am trying to alert to the moderators, for the time being I would recommend manually using the TMDB agent for Extinction: The Facts via the Fix Match option in Plex Media Server.
TVDB will need to correct the Extinction: The Facts entry as it is cannot be edited, in fact it logs me out when trying to view it. That indicates a database issue for this entry.
Show up perfectly for me… just seems incomplete

Keep in mind Plex is not using TheTVDb.com to match movies.
All the usual culprits/agents for movies should find it just fine (tested it myself with The Movie Database and Plex Movie – Plex Movie (legacy) should work similarly fine).
Are you able to edit it? All other entries allow me to edit, but this one was forcing a log out so I messaged the admins.
I see what you mean. My bad… I misread your original post and assumed you simply couldn’t access it at all. Maybe there’s some kind of maintenance impacting only some parts of their stuff. We’ll see.

I have cut and pasted a screen shot of the folder name
After I run a library scan it picks up nothing
You cannot add it to a library of the type “TV shows”, because there is no record of a show by that name on TheTVDB.
(If you follow the above link, it says “Movie”.)
And even if it were, your file name is not right for a tv show.
You have named it like a movie.
It will only work in a library of the type “Movies”.
ah ok I thought it was a TV show like his other documentaries
All my David Attenborough Doco’s are listed under TV shows
In Plex it is like this:
The source of the video doesn’t matter.
The difference between “TV show” and “Movie” is purely determined whether it is a “one off” or “episodic” content.
One off = movie
Episodic = tv show
And that is the same distinction, which the metadata sources use.
If a video is listed as a tv show at TheMovieDB and/or TheTVDB, then it will only work in Plex as a tv show. (Unless you want to type in everything manually)
For the special case “documentary”, this unfortunately means you need two libraries. One for episodic docu’s and one for one-off’s.
