Another oddball naming issue- with Star Trek Enterprise and TNG, but not with Voyager

I’m running Plex on a DS1520+.
All of my naming issues have mostly been resolved, except for 1-2, so I’m making good progress there.

I’ve got Star Trek TOS, TNG, Enterprise, and Voyager videos all on my Plex server.
Star Trek TNG Season 1 Episode 1, is really a two part story as shown here: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/TNG_Season_1.

Even though I have the media filename as “Star Trek The Next Generation - S01E01-E02.mkv” (as recommended here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ )

Multiple Episodes in a Single File
If a single file covers more than one episode, name it as follows:
/TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17-e18 – Optional_Info.ext

Plex shows episodes 1&2 incorrectly:

Similarly, I have the same problem for Star Trek Enterprise Season 1 Episodes 1 & 2.
The media file is named: “Star Trek Enterprise - S01E01-E02.mp4”

However, Star Trek Voyager Season 1 Episodes 1 & 2 are shown correctly even though it uses the same naming convention as recommended in the URL above as well as the filename posted above. The media file for ST Voyager Season 1 Episodes 1 & 2 is named like this: “Star Trek Voyager - S01E01-E02.mkv”

and is displayed correctly like this:

Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong?

Edit: This is the way that Plex shows it

It will show both episodes, but regardless of which on you select, both will play!

From earlier today, since your TNG as well as your Enterprise issue seem the same:

Combined first two episodes, but plex makes episode 3 into episode 2 anyway

Episode 1 & 2 are Encounter At Far Point. The series opener is. 2-parter/AKA Feature Length on some websites.

The Naked Now is Episode 3

What episode ordering do you have set under Edit Show → Advanced? For example:

Based on your description, it seems you may have set “TheTVDB (DVD)” there.

After changing the names and refershing the data (ow whatever steps you go through, would you let us know how Plex displays/playes the episodes that you’ve changed?

I’m going to re-rip this from DVD and put in proper order.
I have somehow dropped episodes when I moved from QNAP to my new NAS.
I messed something up and filebot was happy to comply.

Why bother re-ripping instead of just renaming 2 files?

Check out this thread, I wasn’t aware of the “Ordering” option.
It doesn’t seem to change anything for me though.

Looks to me as if you have the order set to DVD, like here https://thetvdb.com/series/star-trek-the-next-generation/seasons/dvd/1. Change it to Aired either at the series level or for the entire library, if you want the episodes to show up like this https://thetvdb.com/series/star-trek-the-next-generation/seasons/official/1 1.

I have Library Default set. When I changed it to “Aired” nothing changed (I refreshed the data too)

I just did a refresh on my TNG season 01, and they all still show correctly, i.e e01-e02 (one file) shows as episode 1 and episode 2, respectively, as well as episode 3 being The Naked Now.

This is with Library Default for the library and the series.

Oddly enough, the file listings looks correct to me, but the episode listing is not.

Out of curiosity, what top level folder is your TV library pointing to?

Edit: This is displaying correctly for me as well, though I did add it last January.
