Another oddball naming issue- with Star Trek Enterprise and TNG, but not with Voyager

Thanks for adding that portion. I’m aware of this, but something in the original post I responded to made me think of this possibly causing an issue. However, after I looked back at the post, I don’t think it’s the case but since I brought it up I wanted to reply to OP’s response to me.

Thanks,

Looks like this for me. Let me know if I can show anything else to help:

I see the bulk of the problem immediately.

You’re using the “Multimedia” shared folder.

Multimedia is a software API shared folder. It’s not real.

Every time QTS/QuTS scans, it will delete then re-add. You end up with multiple entries just like are being shown.

Solution:

  1. Add the REAL shared folder (e.g /share/TV) to the definition list
  2. Let PMS scan it and all those to the pile
  3. REMOVE the reference to Multimedia.
  4. Scan again
  5. Empty Trash
  6. Clean Bundles.

Your QNAP answer is here (in the FAQ) Q14

The entire Multimedia / Codex Pack setup, while good if you’re running standalone (no PMS server), is a disaster if you use PMS.

Use the real shared folder definitions and it will all clear up

Going over the suggestions in this thread and editing the main Series Advanced settings solved this issue for me.

For the TNG series I changed Episode Ordering to TVDB(Aired)
It’s a bit weird because the first two “episodes” shown are now linked to the same file that contains episodes 1 and 2 combined, but I can live with that.

If Auto Play is on Plex will play “Episode 3” after “Episode 1” (which contains 1 and 2)… so that’s cool.

This made me think about why Plex was using anything other than TVDB(Aired) since I assumed that was the default for my server because I noticed a lot of series ratings from TMDB on the server

I took a look in Agents for the first time in awhile and notice that there is no way to “turn off/uncheck” The Movie Database so I just raised the Priority of TheTVDB above The Movie Database in the The Movie Database tab.

Also noticed that there isn’t a way to select Aired order as the default for all shows.

Any comments are appreciated

@John_001

You don’t need to mess with the agents.

While TMDB is the default, I override it in the library section itself when I define it.

Yes, but I was looking for a global Plex solution since my file renaming scheme for all Series uses TVDB now. I have had a lot of issues with Series that Air their shows out of production order… NOVA being the worst.

@John_001

Miami Vice and FireFly are equally bad

Out of curiosity, what are you running, now?

BYO. Ubuntu server, 109TB usable (12x12TB HUH721212ALE604) RAID 6.

Xeon E5-2690v4, 256GB, Between HDDs and SSDs – 21
16-port SAS/SATA HDD controller, 2x 10GbE, and Nvidia P2200.

I’ll share the build details if you want.

PS: Going back through the various logs from the past year, I suspect the QNAP burped when it was my main server. I know I did a file & size count moving from QNAP → the new one.

Speaking of Miami Vice… made me refresh meta just now, and now I need to fix it again, because just a couple of weeks ago someone over at TVDB f’d with the episode order in season 1. I’ve said this before, but an old show like that should be certified and locked.

This is where my TV Shows library is. I am running the Plex server on a Synology NAS.

I don’t see anything unusual there. Do you?

Looks good. Like I mentioned, at this point I no longer remember what my thought process was based on what I saw.

For me (being one of the much newer members/Plex users here), “Library Default” was the default, but I don’t know
what “Library Default” refers to.

Having changed to TVDB(aired order), I think all of my Star Trek naming issues have been resolved.

I’m fairly sure this is documented somewhere, but yeah, it’s not clear just from looking at it in PMS. The default is TMDB (aired). I don’t think Plex supports any other sorting for TMDB, unlike TVDB. Someone correct me, if I’m wrong.

Personally, I like IMDB. That’s professionally curated by the studio.

For movies, yes, IMDB all the way. For shows, they tend to lack a lot of info, mostly names of episodes, both current and old. I find that TVDB with all its flaws is still the go-to here.

Personal note: totally off topic: 1.6 TB re-ripped :face_with_head_bandage:

Now what’s this thread about? :sunglasses:

Do I have the same problem as everyone?

Please notice how the alignment ends up with Episodes 25 & 26.
S01E26 is “The Neutral Zone” but the screenshot from Episode 25 is from Episode 26

The shift / error seems to occur right at the beginning with the compount episode file.

S01E01-E02 should get one/ same image. (E02 is actually lost here)
S01E03 should get Tasha’s pic.

Yes, you do :stuck_out_tongue:

Change to TVDB aired!

…or rename E01-E02 to just E01 and go from there, if you feel like sticking with TMDB.

Here’s the $50 question –

Request Engineering change TV Show default to TheTVDB ?
