Not going to provide logs at this time, it would be a waste of all our time.

Has anyone, anyone at all in this entire worldwide web come up with any type of solution whatsoever? I mean, it’s somewhat comical really. Plex takes our money, which we gladly offer. They seem to spend far too much time overhauling the cosmetics of an application that quite frankly, looks fine.

I for one, as paying Plex “lifetime” subscriber, am fed up. I’m fed up with the posts that never get a reply from a "staffer. Fed up with spending money on servers. Fed up trying to watch something, anything, only to get the CONSTANT generic error, “An unexpected playback problem occured”.

First of all, the error is very much NOT unexpected. Infact, I expect to see it pop up each and every time I try to watch ANYTHING.

Is the PMS so broken, in such a disrepair that we, as your customers, cannot even get a reason as to why this isn’t working? What about an update? I know there have been posts saying, “We’re looking into it, no ETA”. Well, I for one sure would appreciate an ETA.

We know the issue has to do with the flow of subtitles that the Plex Server is pushing to the TV. So why can this not be fixed?

Do we have to really move to another platform like Jellyfin (although open source, up to this point have no issues providing support for any platform).

And I apologize, I am not trying to be rude. I would love some answers (again, from someone on the payroll). If it takes a 100 emails to get a response, so be it; drop the email address in the reply!

why? Honestly. Plex states that their applications support Tizen, other smart devices, why should we have to go and purchase another device? I know that I personally spend enough on having a “reliable” media server readily available remotely. I don’t see the reason that I would need to go out, spend even more money and wait for an app update to break that device’s ability to play media as well…

The fact is, it seems that more and more applications that Plex provides are broken. Of course, not all are their fault. But let’s take the ps5 for example. The device has been on the market for well over a year. In the year I’ve had mine, connected to either of the same TV’s I’m having issues with, not once has that application worked as it should have.

How old is your Tizen? If it’s more than a year old, and Samsung has stopped updating the firmware, you might well be caught by this.

If this is the case, the “smart” tv isn’t “smart” anymore (normally what happens to all “Smart TVs” after 2 years).

9/10 times, the new set throws that error.

I’d say 75% of the time the older one. This has absolutely nothing to do with my server, my tv’s or any aspect of the general setup. This is 110% an issue/a fault with some aspect of the Plex Media Server software. It’s funny, because I can’t play a damn thing off either of my three remote servers, all in different locations in the world. But the second I copy that file to my local “server”, plays like a dream…

Or, if I try my laptop, my phone, tablet, what have you they all play the file that errors out on my tv without any issue.

I’d love for someone to drop their email address in the comments, or reach out to me in some sort of way. I feel this needs be fixed sooner than later, this has been an issue for far too long now.

I was going to ask for your logs … specifically the DEBUG logs which capture the errors you’re seeing, but you don’t seem to be willing.

I have a brand new LG C1 and it works – sorta. I know the problem is the LG itself and there isn’t a thing which can be done about it. My media bit rate is too high for the LG side of the app. It can’t handle the bit rate nor can it handle the audio so, in my book, it’s pretty grossly deficient. (I have ripped the discs and want the audio too – which the TV will not do)

I have a Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro, a Roku Ultra (4800x), and even a FireTV Max. All threee of those are 100% and never fail.

These are connected to my Onkyo. The Onkyo does the audio and passes the video to the LG over HDMI

In this configuration, I have proper 5.1 (up to 7.1.2 when i get more speakers) for all the audio codecs and DV on the LG

I would be more than happy to provide that to you. I am absolutely more than willing. I have no issues providing anything it is you’d like…

I’m not “sour”, if you will. I’m just frustrated with the entire situation is all…

I know all other devices, for the most part anyway, have no issues with playback (other then the average intermittent issue). But these Samsung devices, man, they’ve been a pain to justify paying the bills for the servers every month…

How would you like these logs? Is there a specific process you’d like me to go through to get them…

Here’s a snippet from this morning. When it didn’t play, I moved the file to my local box, played without issue. What I don’t understand, is how is Direct Play disabled and where would it be disabled?

Your certificate needs the CA record. You can’t use self-signed certificates in PMS.

So yeah, honestly I missed that one. But perfectly good reason for seeing that.
This morning I had moved the install/database from Server A, which I’ve been using for quite some time now without any success to Server B. I did this with the hope that maybe, just maybe the server was the issue. This wasn’t the case obviously…

I’m going to look into that certificate error further, but I’m assuming that it has to do with moving it from server A to B.

Also, my mistake for not giving you logs in proper format.

I just tested things out, seems to still throw that same error… Problem is, I have no clue how to fix this one… I mean, if the issue we with my domains cert, then sure, not a problem. But everything I’m reading seems to tell me that someone at your end (Plex’s end) needs to renew the cert for me? Is that true?

The ZIP file PMS gives you is INFINITELY better than a selected snippet.

I will send you a PM if you wish in order to keep logs private.

As for the CA record missing; the CA record is part of the cert file.
I can understand a mismatch with the host name but this is a case where the CA is not present in the file.

Translation: You forgot to include it when generating the P12/PFX

As for the cert, I’m looking at it now. It’s definitely the correct cert, and as far as I can see everything is kosher…
