Another update, same issues

Is this saving the file directly into the Plex library folder? That might be the issue. We recommend saving recording into another temp folder first, then move the file when done to the Plex library folder. That’s how Plex’s DVR recordings work. Saving into the Plex library folder can cause issues as PMS may see and analyze the file before it is fully saved and use the information as seen at the time. If you try to Download later, the filesize and duration could cause a mismatch and the Download fails.

but it has to do with a combination of backing out of the plex video player and the screen orientation being changed

Thanks, I’ll give that a try and see if I can reproduce.

I do have playon dropping itbdirectly in the folder, but the file always works and plays. Even when it fails, if i clear the download and try again it works. I always make sure the file is done also. Just had it happen again today. It is 100% if the originaldownload of the file fails because of lost of data signal. When that happens, when i get a signal back, the download will begin downloading from where it left off, but when it finishes and i try and play it, i get either the external storage error or it tells me to check my internet connection when i try to play it. The episode “The White Lotus - S02E05” was this exact scenario again today. It was downloading while i was commuting. I lost sognal and got the failed download icon (triangle). As soon as the service returned, the download resumed, but i knew it was going to be exactly how i mentioned. At lunch, i tried to play it…failed. I temoved the download, redownloaded i

t with no interuption, tested it quickly, and it olayed.

I will try downloading to a seperate file and manually moving the file for a while and see if it still happens.

According to your logs, it did fail while trying to download the file, twice actually. It then restarted later from the beginning and completed the Download in 1 go.

Can you check the size of the original file? Your logs showed it downloaded 1,644,777,472 bytes, but when you go to play the file, it’s trying to seek to 1,655,987,912 to find the end of the file. You can see the problem here.

Veey odd. Because the exact file size is 1,600,986,824 bytes. That figure is from File explorer. I get 1.49gb from the Plex Server (essentially the same)

Huh. Could you try reloading that episode when you have a good connection so it can complete the first time? Maybe there is an issue with resume not appending/replacing the file properly. Get me the android log after so I can check what size it sees.

Sorry. Was busy at work. This is the log for the same episode that is a working download and had no data interruptions during its download process. Thanks again for all this work.
WhiteLotus- Working Download.zip (4.2 MB)

Done adding transient 1600986824 bytes of used space.

Well, this recorded the right size. Thanks for the info. I’ll look into if the resume/retry feature is somehow getting the filesize wrong.

Again, appreciate all this. Good to see progress.

Just moved files into Plex monitored folder after everything was complete first. If i have to resume a download, same result with either internet connection error or external storage error.
