Anticipating the EPG change - what to do ? (Programmed records, ...)

Dear Plex teams,

I am recording quite a few tv programs to view them when I have time (live is almost imposible) and therefore I have a long list in recordings.

What will happen with new EPG provider ? How to we switch to new EPG provider?

 nothing to do?
tuner needs to be deleted and created again (loosing all recordings in EPG?)
just a rescan in DVR and align channels ?

Can you please explain how this is going to happen? some of the solutions above are quite time consuming and a good preparation can help.

Anyone else knows the answer?
Thanks a lot

To use a different EPG, yes, the tuner will need to be removed from Plex and re-added. However, your recording schedule will not be removed, but there is a chance that they won’t work and you will have to remove and reschedule them.

Indeed some recordings will continue while others will be ignored. The issue will be the title of what one EPG calls it vs the other. For example, my series link of The Office needed to be deleted and reset with the new IceTv DVR because IceTV calls it The Office ( US ) while the Gracenote one called it just The Office.

So yes, look at what the coming recordings are and match against the expected recordings.

And while I am here…

Dear Pleax team

When can we start using the new provider ? only on July 1st ? or some days before ?

It would be handy to know. Not sure if there was any communication on that.

thanks a lot !

@sa2000 can you answer @juanca2000 question? It’ll be nice to know about the new provider, or is it for just a few select countries?
