Hello,
EPG for Germany Frankfurt, I have to use DVR-Deutschland (erweitert) (959 channels)
Every time your EPG guide provider is updating its lists, Plex is out of order because the programmed channel do match with EPG Channels any more. This is overall not useful, please fix that a.s.a.p., this really is annoying.
The change in 12.2020 was ok because of you general change to a different EPG provider. The next change was 02.2021 and then March 12th and now March 26th.
The problem itself is, if Plex looses the EPG guide its useless because no airings get recorded because there are no guide (ok from 52 channel there are sometime 3-6 channels which will work because simply the channel numbers was not changed. If there are new channels in the middle all channel numbers from this point down to the end will change and will stop everything from being recorded.
The solution would be quite simple. Every EPG Chanel has a code e.g. ZDF aka ZDFGERH, if there is a method of trying to find the match is must be made not from the numbers or from the channelname in brackets, instead the alpha-code (ZDFGERH) must be taken. I think this alpha code will not change ever so it’s secure to use.
The best way would be a worksheet with two rows
1st row: what’s the name of the channel provided from HDHomerun (name not number)
2nd row: what is the alphacode of the epg provider
With this kind of sheet (once manual done) there should be no more trouble. I doesn’t take place very often that there are new channels or channels deleted, if so the admin had to manage this. The sheet should be generated and maintained from the admin via webgui.
I wonder because the last two times of damage I searches the forum but did not find any help, maybe it is a special for German Channels I don’t know?
This all is more that frustrating, and to get one more… I have to change the first HDHomeRun-Expand and after fixing one (takes about 1 h) I have to manual get all this stuff done for the second one. Helpful would be a copy function.
Another problem is no infos at all, I manually have to check daily that the recordings are running and no problems is found, I would like to get informed via email about the status, e.g. how many channels, how many epg channels and so on, if something changes a mail via my gas would be very good.
Regards and thanks for your help, also from the employees from Plex
Thomas
B.t.w. the first initializing was ok, the second crashes Plex again over and over, memory full but I am running 8GB with my Syno DS 918+.
