Any 3rd Party Software for scarping Posters / Metadata?

Anyone know of any software that plays nice with Plex to match TV shows / Movies and download posters / artwork / metadata?

Coming from Kodi years ago, I used to have all the above downloaded to my media folders via the Kodi export database function which made ever needing to re-add my collection fairly easy regarding artwork / metadata. Plex sadly never implemented this function when they forked from XBMC / Kodi. Yes, you can manually backup the Plex database but I’d rather have the data local to each file.

I’ve been using Media Companion which works reasonably well for Movie artwork but less so for TV shows. However, Plex doesn’t seem to use any of the downloaded metadata and still wants to scrape every new folder (read somewhere it won’t use any tbn metadata within the folder).

Had a look at Media Center Master recently but got me thinking whether anyone here has found anything that simply works well with Plex?

Your issue is twofold I presume:

  1. fetch poster from within Plex and save them beside your media files
  2. Tell Plex to actually use these “sidecar” posters
