It would be awesome to add an audio book library but its set up for music. And i use Plexamp i don t want my audiobooks showing up in plexamp. Is there any plans to create a different library and separate app? I know you can add it as music and add your own metadata.
Proper audiobook support is being considered (Support for audiobooks - #1070 by McWanke) but it’s not on the roadmap yet AFAIK, so considering a separate app is probably jumping the gun a bit.
Plexamp already has some audiobook-focused features via Settings > Experience > Player > ‘Use Long-form Controls’ and ‘Music Playback Speed,’ so my guess is that if Plex ever does implement a separate Audiobook library type, it would be integrated into Plexamp first opposed to a separate app.
As long as your audiobooks are in a separate library, Plexamp shouldn’t show them if it’s not your selected music source (Settings > Source).
I do just this myself. Since Plexamp will only show the contents of one music library at once, anything outside of this library won’t show up among all songs. Definitely keep a separate library for the books.
FYI, if you download a book to plexamp, it will still be accessible from the downloads section even if you change the visible library.
Thanks guys hopefully they put it on the roadmap soon. Does anyone know of a sever like plex made for audiobooks?
I use audiobookshelf for my audiobooks.
