Using plex for Audiobooks is a great way to get greater access to audiobooks then being stuck in specific players. Since plex recognizes .m4b and other audio book types its works okay.
You really need to add an Audiobook Library type. This would be pretty straightforward. The Music library type doesn’t work well for this at all and plex isn’t very smart about how to sort or filter audio books using this only available option.
It really needs have Author(Artist) -> Series -> Book and stacked sorting capabilities. The music library lends itself terribly to the filtering and sorting as well as organization of audio books.
Also be great if it could look to auto build metadata like movies and music do from internet sources, to fill in author photos, book cover jackets, book descriptions, etc…
Being able to group or playlist out audiobooks would be neat too.
Yes an Audiobook type of Library is really needed. It’s no good seeing “Recently added music” and having books under there. Plus books really need the Author -> Series -> Book format (much like TV’ libraries Show -> Season -> Episode)
And if you could also view the Audiobook library by Series that would be amazing.
