I recently discovered something cool with Channels DVR, with their PLUS service, you can log in your TV ANYWHERE services like Spectrum, Fios, etc., and it will integrate the channels into the guide and you can DVR it. I’m not sure if TV ANYWHERE is industry lingo, or Channels’ lingo. But essentially, it’s the streaming channels that your cable provider allows you to watch on their app. These apps are normally stripped down, especially your local channels, they won’t let you view those. But since it integrates LOCAST also, issue is solved! No need for hardware tuners if you’re not going to use OTA or cablecards. So basically, it’ll function like live services Hulu, youtube tv, etc. Of course you provide your own PC for the server and storage space.
Does Plex have any plans to add a similar feature? It is terrific for those of us who don’t want or need to buy hardware tuners or get cable cards. I’m using my family’s login credentials for Spectrum. Between Spectrum and Locast… I’m good! Or, can we already do this and I’m just out of the loop? LOL!
