After following @Wiidesire 's guide to get these up and running I have been a little underwhelmed by the accuracy of it thus far. I am not sure if this is just a wish to have perfection straight out of the box, or am I doing something wrong.
I am running the following kit, based in the UK -
Desktop PC (Running MCEBuddy) - Windows 10 x64 (i5-6600K, 16GB Ram, GTX 1060)
Plex DVR - Nvidia Shield
DVR - HDHomeRun CONNECT
I appreciate this is almost certianly a Comskip ini tweaking issue and I will be posting over on Comskip’s site as well. At the present moment the default ini gets rid of most of adverts but I dont at the moment see any clear reason why it misses some and catches others. Today I have tried four episodes of TV recorded from Channel 4 HD which all bear the Channel 4 HD logo throughout the program. With the following results -
Grand Designs (2002) - S17E06
33 adverts in total (before, during and after). 25 removed.
After that I changed a couple settings -
Main Settings - max_volume - 500 _> 0
USA Specific - intelligent_brightness 0 -> 1
Logo Finding - logo_max_percentage_of_screen 0.1 -> 0.15
Then I tried again with SAS:Who Dares Wins (2015) - S02E02, 29 adverts in total. All gone bar the interval sponsorship adverts (which fade the Channel 4 HD logo in). Although I lost about 6 minutes off the end of the show. As that worked better I thought I would try again with Grand Designs and see whether that could be reduced. It didn’t work any better than the first time in fact worse with 10 adverts remaining. I tried Hunted (2012) S02E01 next with the same settings, that cleared every advert, even the sponsorship intervals, even nicely allowing the credits and then cutting off. Just tried 999 Whats Your Emergency (2012) S03E12, that faired worse than Grand Designs and left adverts throughout.
From my limited understanding of the Comskip ini it often requires a single definition for each channel that is recorded, which I simply have no idea how to work out. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks that they have learnt to get Comskip closer to 100% accuracy.
