I created an account before Google sign-in integration and it used gmail’s feature of appending a label to the email. E.g. username+tag@gmail.com. When Google integration was added, I accidentally created an account of username@gmail.com. I attempted to change the original account’s email to be username@gmail.com but it didn’t work. I assumed it didn’t work because there was already an account with username@gmail.com, so I deleted that account.
However, even after the deletion, when I try to set the original account’s email to username@gmail.com, it still tells me “Email Address — Email has already been taken”. Nor can I sign in with with Google via username@gmail.com because attempting to sign in gives a “Username has already been taken”.
Is there a chance of someone merging the two accounts into username@gmail.com?
Hello. I’m having roughly the same trouble. I created an account with an old email account. I can still log in and use plex, but I’d like to update my registered email address to my new gmail account, as I no longer have access to my old email account. However, when I enter my new email address, it says there is already an account with that name, and when I ask to recover password, the link to reset my password never arrives in my inbox. Thanks, and hope that makes sense.
I am having the same issue - Deleted one account to create a Google-linked account, but am receiving the “User name taken” error when trying to sign in. Had to create this third account in order to post this message for support… Can you please PM me to fix these account issues?
@BigWheel I have two accounts - an old one from a year or so ago under my email address, and the one I registered this week when I set up my Plex server, which is registered against my Google account. I’d like to switch my Plex email over from my Gmail account to my main address, but it won’t let me because it says it’s already taken. Is there any way I can delete the old address/account, so I can then update my new account with the correct email address?
