Any way to record only unwatched episodes?

There are shows that I watch that are rebroadcast regularly (like home shows on DIY network, for example). I usually watch them, then delete–I don’t keep them long term, as I will never watch them again. Is there any way to prevent Plex from re-recording them? If it has a “watched” status, I would like to prevent the recording from happening.

I’m familiar with “first run” vs repeats–that doesn’t help, unfortunately. When the first run episodes are re-aired, they still show as first run.

TiVo has a feature that Plex DVR needs to adopt in some form or fashion in that TiVo will not record the same episode twice in the same 30 day period. I think that would solve your problem for the most part.
