Apparently you can transfer your watch history. Let’s just switch. We complain and complain but we never just leave. Do you feel like they are earning your plex pass money? I’m gonna go check out Jellyfin, because I dont like being treated like a stupid animal.

Just checked the updated Jellyfin Roku app and love the customization you can play around with now! I love the fact I have my background as the “Compact Posters Splash Screen” that changes the posters randomly and now I can have it on my Roku as well

Best case scenario, it’s until they roll back the recent UI.

my wife suggests running a micro pc with the web version running till this is fixed. if it doesnt get fixed in week maybe start looking at alternatives

Im with you. Ive been a loyal plexpass lifetime holder for many years now but this latest Roku update is complete and utter dog$#!+. It is obvious that Plex has no intention of retaining customers at this point or even making a product that works better than the previous releases.

its starting to try and look like tubi and those free streaming platforms that connect all the other platforms. that not as many users that use plex asked for. why do i care whats on apple tv if i never have an apple product? disney and netflix & hulu they have their own apps why are you promoting them?

I am also a plexpass lifetime holder. I’m sure there are thousands of us. This is my second post ever.
The new app for Roku Ultra is terrible. PLEX has to do something about the Library Menu. It is so bad. They have to know that the #1 control on the app used is the Library Menu. It should be out front, easily readable and customizable. Now it is small, floating weirdly on the second to the top line, not customizable, and doesn’t hide Libraries (which is a big bug).
I’m not saying “don’t fix something that works”. I get the evolution. I do not understand when the evolution results in a far worse experience to do the #1 basic thing… easily browsing and selecting media from a library.

Tried it, kinda clunky, worked but not my solution. re-booted and would not ever appear again. I’m not a programmer so this one will not fly. I need the old ROKU app that actually worked. Give us the option to switch back and please refrain from doing this to the PC Browser. That seems to still work. At least I can REFUSE any new release!

After years with Plex I’m looking at alternatives. There are things on Plex that I could not do on JellyFin like delete shows when done watching (on the Roku at least) but that is not enough to make me deal with this broken Roku update and horrible UI.

I spun up a Jellyfin docker container last night. I’m playing around with it today. It’s sad because I always saw Plex as the leader in the personal media server space, but my family, especially my kids, can’t figure out the new Roku user interface. If testing goes well, I’ll probably start moving my family over next week.
