Im still seeing compression on my media server setup. Im using my RPI 3 for playback and its setup as direct play and I still see compression on the video and noise in skys scenes or anything that has a gradient. Any Ideas? Its really frustrating!
I’m really not an expert, but I do wonder if your RPi3 has the wrong video setting. To put this in ‘PC language’ which I understand slightly better. As in you could have 8/16/32 etc color depth for your video card and it doesn’t matter how good your monitor or source file may be if you have too low a setting. So with your RPi, the video you are playing may be fine but it’s just being output to the screen in a sub-optimal manner.
Please view this reply with caution, but I think I’m having something similar:
I added the line and my blacks are finally black, but the color gradients still arent super buttery smooth. I still see noise. Im not sure what exactly is causing that.
Anyone have video compression in sky scenes? Like mad max or any of those style? When I watch the bluray it’s clean, when I watch it over Plex with direct play I see noise/compression. I’m using a Mac Pro tower for my server all wired into my network. Then I have a small PC for my playback. It looks sharp just has compression when trying to have a CLEAN sky color gradient. Any help would be great!
