Anyone experience system freezing with StableBit DrivePool?

I’ve been experiencing system freezes/hangs for 5 months now and can’t figure out the culprit. My PC completely hangs and I have to hard boot to bring it back. Seems the problem is either the sata controllers or StableBit DrivePool. I’ve got 6 10 TB disks in the pool and my problems started when I added disk #6. Anyone ever experience system freezing that was caused by StableBit?

It almost certainly wont be Drivepool. Im at 14 drives with a combination of a USB chassis for archived drives and sata ports for internal drives.
I have had issues with the odd bad cable/sata port or even bad drive and it exhibited exactly what you describe.

I have DrivePool as my only storage solution. It is absolutely stable and so is my system with it running. However I will say that as soon as you have two or more systems workng on one computer weird things can and often d happen.

One thing that causes problems with Plex is storing things like Plex’s temporary files in the pool. You should NEVER place Plex’s data directory in the pool.

BTW: I have about 14 disks in my primary pool and I just added one and there have been no problems in many years with this setup.

I think your problem lies elsewhere than with DrivePool.

Good point. It’s a really bad idea.

@mbarylski
I really do want to elaborate it really may be something as simple as the sata cable rather than the port its attached to.
Sadly the only way I find to really troubleshoot is power down and detach all drives.
Gradually attach the drives one by one and if issues start to appear on adding a drive try that same drive on a different port and then if needed with a different cable.
Not a great solution but if it identifies a bad port/cable/drive and gives stability then it’s worth it.

@Xhaka @Elijah_Baley Great, thanks! Looks like I’ll have to methodically move around my drives to find out where the faulty cable is. Or worse, sata controller or motherboard. Thanks for your help.
