I just installed a HDHomerun Connect 4 OTA Network Tuner. With the HDHomerun application, I can tune in to 25 channels in my area. However, I can only add about half of those to the Plex LiveTV/DVR configuration. I’m missing major stations like NBC and Fox. I’ve seen many discusions and topics on the issue, but no definitive answer. Seems like Plex are ignoring the issue. WTF ? This, combined with the ever-delayed grid channel guide are making me regret taking a Plex Pass. Could’ve spent my money much wiser elsewhere…
I’m not a plex expert by any stretch. I presently only dabble with their dvr. In the past though I’ve had similar issues with other dvr software and got more of the channels i wanted by using zip codes that had more of the channels associated with them. It took some trial and error, but I ended up using zip codes from other towns around/neadby rather than my own. If I remember correctly I used a map from google to find the zips that had the best alignment between the towers of interest. Hope that he!ps.
Okay, so where/how do I choose a different zip ?
After many hours of research, I think I have a better understanding of why I’m not seeing all my channels. I’m using an amplified antenna and I’m getting channels that are relatively far (80 miles) from my home. I live in the Montreal QC area and I’m getting channels from Burlington VT and Plattsburgh NY. How do I set something up that will allow me to create a lineup that will include channels from all three regions ? I’m trying with xmltv, but it’s pretty complicated…
Ok. By playing around with zip/postal codes, I’ve been able to find a spot where I’m getting almost all of my channels. Would be nice if the DVR setup had an additional parameter to select maximum distance…
Just curious, how are you getting your xmltv data? I presently use Schedules Direct. I used to use straight xmltv, but I cannot remember what software I used (been 10 years or so).
I was getting it from SD on the trial membership. Not using it. Found how to use the Plex native Guide Channels by changing my zip code to be somewhere in the middle of where my channels are coming from.
