Anything I Can Do To Make ROKU play EAC-3?

Server Version#: Latest Roku Stick w/power adapter
Player Version#: Latest Plex Version

Is there any kind of download, or device I can add to make PLEX play EAC-3 codec, and or a variety of today’s codecs? I heard EAC-3 is another type of DD+, does this mean I’m forced to by a sound bar? What are some member experiences, since “staff” refuses to answer this question.

Worth a shot:

Bottom line - Roku is DOA as far as EAC3 is concerned and the ONLY way you’ll do anything with it is by trying to give it to somebody else to do something with… got no idea how you do that other than fiddling with those Roku Audio Settings.

I had a Roku 3, and I was having the same problem, and I upgraded to the latest steaming stick, and it still would not play EAC3. It’s pretty insulting and retarded to pay for an updated 4k model, and can’t play a codec that seems to be pretty mainstream now. Not even my desktop will play it via seedbox. The only way it will play is through my Samsung Smart hub. But I hate Samsung’s hub navigation. It sucks!! Very antiquated. For real. Pretty appalling to go through this in this day and age. Money does not grow on trees!!

Hey, I know this post is old, but I wanted to give you an update. Long story short, I found out that the problem was neither PLEX or Roku. It was my seedbox! And the only reason I figured that out was because I happened to have two of them, because I was phasing out one. I didn’t realize that the codec issue came from one of them.

Well, couldn’t get mad at PLEX or Roku, because it’s impossible that either one of them would know this. I guess this was just one of those life experiences I wish were made easier!!!
