Hi all,
I’m FAIRLY new to PLEX, but given my frowning use of streaming video and music decided to invest in the Lifetime Pass (less said about the pricing the better).
I’m particularly font of the PLEX app running on my older Firesticks that allow for Video and Music functionality without splitting off to use PLEXAMP.
Is anyone able to explain to me why that split? Is it to better facilitate advanced audio features I their own app?
I also. noticed that my newer Firestick can only install the VIDEO based application and PLEXAMP. was not officially available. (last tested a few. months back - anyone know if that has been resolved?)
when the split happened it was because most music users were using our dediscted music app Plex Amp and just using that to cast/fling to stereo system, bluetooth speakers etc.The way folks generally interact with music is very different than the way they interact with video and we wanted to remove much of that complication to focus on making video work better on TV. But we had enough feedback about it that we are adding it back to the main apps though I cannot provide an ETA and it likely will not have as robust options as Plex Amp.
Plex amp was only ever a mobile/desktop app and not sure if that will ever come to TV but thing change all the time.
Many thanks for confirming that, and glad to hear that the feedback has encouraged its reintegration with the main app. it certainly helps reaffirm its place as the hub of my streaming media.
