Music Library missing in new android app

Not sure what the server details etc are however I cannot see my Music Library in the new Android App :frowning:

Plex has introduced a dedicated app focused on audio playback a few years ago: Plexamp.
With the recent release of the main app. Plex is focusing both apps on their main domains — Plexamp for music and anything audio; the Plex app for video.

It’s not linking up to my downloads. How can I clean this up? I can find the previous downloads and plexamp says I have no downloads, yet the overall storage on my phone hasnt changed.

I’ve read and read…Yes or No…I don’t care about movies or TV…Is my lifetime subscription to Plex now completely useless if all I want to do is remotely access my music library?..If I understand this change correctly Plex is trying to force me to pay more money correct?..

No. Moving forward, however, you will need to use Plexamp (in case you’re not already). It’s a free app for music.

Adding to darcilicious’ response.

  • The Plex Pass or Watch Pass requirement for remote access only applies to video libraries – your music library isn’t impacted by that change
    See:

Does this affect content from music and photo libraries?

The announced changes for remote streaming of personal content from a Plex Media Server apply only to movie/TV/video media. This does not affect music or photo streaming to our dedicated Plexamp and Plex Photos apps.

  • Even for video libraries… you already have a Plex Pass, so you’re all covered (in case you want to stream videos remotely). No additional payments or fees beyond your existing Plex Pass.
    See:

How am I impacted by these changes?

I have a lifetime Plex Pass subscription:

Nothing changes for you. You continue to enjoy all of your Plex Pass functionality and you can stream remotely from any Plex Media Server to which you have access.

Thank you for responding. I figured it out, but man, I feel like it could have been so much clearer after reading everyone’s complaints. I rolled back my app thinking that was the problem when it wasn’t. I’m still leery after the re-claiming the server fiasco a year or two back. I still have to operate as administrator to even use the thing to this day unfortunately. I would imagine it will clear up when I get a new computer, but what a pain in the ass that was. Anyway, thanks very much! - John

I am so very very very unhappy about this. I didn’t ask for it and do not want it. All of my media in one app, please.

And there is no Plexamp service for Sonos! Big thumbs down. Content should be in one place. Should NOT need multiple apps.

Lifetime Plex User. Is it safe to update my fire TV 4k Stick? I avoided this so that I would not lose access to my music on the Fire Stick. I don’t care about my phone as much, but I am making sure I will not lose my library of music on the amazon app version of Plex. I have turned off updates until I know for sure. PLEXAMP is not available on Fire Stick via Amazon.

I looked for the topic, and didn’t find it. So if there is a better topic location for this, please let me know. I promise I tried my due diligence.

The new experience app has not yet been released for Android TV / Fire TV platforms (except for some accidental updates of Android TV boxes that don’t announce themselves as Android TV but mobile platforms).

Is this still the case? Where can I see when that update is live?

To be clear, we use our libraries as a one stop app on Fire TV. So I’ve been doing manual updates since July trying to avoid the change.

This should be announced in the respective release threads:

I‘m not sure if this will be posted in a separate / new „new experience big screen apps“ thread (similar to the combined mobile apps release thread).
