I frequently use the web app to look at my content, and see whats available, and I hate that everytime I launch it, it starts playing the last thing I was watching minimized in a small window. I always pause it, I don’t think I have ever used it.
I have this same issue and its infuriating. For me, I regularly watch a part of a show in the web browser and then continue it on other media (phone, tablet, etc.). So I’ve fully watched the episode and it gets marked watched. But then I open the web/desktop version and it continues playing where it left off, rather than syncing to see if the show was watched. I pause/close the small window, but now the show is marked as half watched and shows up “On Deck” again. I have to then manually mark the show watched to get it to stop displaying in the “On Deck” menu. Super annoying.
Don’t ‘pause’.
Stop the movie. ( The small x at the right hand end of the player controls bar)
The playback position is stored nonetheless, so you can resume on a different client.
I understand the intended operation, and that you can X to close it. Sometimes I pause it, intending to come back and finish, and then never come back until the next day. It just bothers me that it will start playing auto play minimized, I’d be fine with it minimized waiting for me to press play, and I wish there was an option for that.
This is my biggest beef right now. It’s screwing up my play queue for the aforementioned reasons and manages to resume playing content I’d rather not open (or unexpectedly find open) in every session I launch. Sometimes we want to launch the player with specific intent and it’s a bit of a privacy failure to have something come up already playing just because you connect to the server. That is NOT appropriate in all contexts, and I want it to stop. Give me an option to turn it off, PLEASE.
This is not a solution for the entire problem. Reminding of the initial complaint here, the show plays automatically without prompting. The point is that this REQUIRES user intervention when the original play action was neither REQUESTED nor PREFERRED.
This is SO annoying. When I open PLEX, I just want to open PLEX, I do not want to have some minimized video instantly played so I’m forced to stop it or maximize it quickly, losing some seconds of the vid because I was paying attention to where to click instead of watching the movie.
It just doesn’t make any sense, what it does is make me frown every time I launch the program
Honestly, I don’t know what changed or why anyone thought that this change was a good thing. It’s getting incredibly annoying that every update brings about a change that users are forced into.
The assumption that everyone wants every single design and functionality change is horrendously arrogant.
A simple toggle setting that disables auto-resume either globally or locally would be so simple. But instead, we get silence and “deal with it”. Thanks.
