In Plex Media Server 0.9.12.7 there is a feature added that restores playing after a close, although I can understand that some people might like that to me it’s really annoying. When I close my browser window it is because I wanted to stop watching and when I go back to Plex it doesn’t mean I want to immediately continue watching what I was watching. Also I use Plex on different devices so I might have continued watching it on my phone or tablet. On Deck is perfect for me, no auto restore/resume needed.
Is there a way to disable to this behaviour? I have looked but I haven’t been able to find a setting for it.
In addition this is already not working as intended. I close my videos now because of this (not something i wanted to have to do in the first place) and the video is still auto-loading in some cases. I personally do not like or have any reason to want this feature. Can we please get a toggle to disable this?

I agree, but you should ask to have this moved to the Bug & Features Voting section of the forum. To make that request, click the Flag option on your post, select ‘Report,’ and ask the moderator to move the thread.
Posts can be moved by the author themselves, no moderator needed, but I wanted to first check if I wasn’t missing a setting before bumping it to a feature request.
But I’ve moved it now to the Bug & Features Voting section.
I would also love to be able to disable this feature with a setting, on my pc from work I mostly use plex web to manage my server and sometimes to watch something during my lunch break, but that doesn’t have to continue the next day when I open plex web to manage my server and view my user activity
From time to time I like to have something playing on Plex Web, and then open another window/tab to do some media management. Previously, when I’d open the new window it would just go to the Plex home screen / dashboard as expected. Now, the new window I open automatically loads the same video that I’m already watching…
I’m not sure if it’s the exact issue, but it definitely sounds related. If this is a feature, then I hope they add an option to disable it. (I’ve only experienced it on Plex Web…not sure what platform/client everyone is referring to (I saw someone mention iOS))
Edit:
Oh, looks like it was a feature added on 7/29:
Restore the player on launch if the app was previously quit without closing the player.
Would what I’m experiencing simply be a bug from this new feature? Does anyone know if it’s already been reported, or should I start a new thread? Happens on both Mac OS Yosemite (Safari) and Windows 8.1 (Chrome) when Automatic Sign On is turned on for Plex Web. Looks like it affects numerous platform/browsers if Automatic Sign On is turned on.
Yeah I experience that myself too. The “feature” continues playing even when it is still playing in a different window and as I mentioned before it also tries to continue playing when the video was already finished watches via a different device.
It seems like that this features was thrown in quickly without really thinking through the various use cases that this kind of behaviour has an effect on.
